The Old Court House

House. Early C17 with mid-C19 alterations; extended late C20. Timber-
framed with painted brick and rendered infill, painted brick replacement
walling and additions and plain tiled roofs. Three framed bays aligned
east/west with rebuilt external chimney at east gable end. Single storey
and attic with dormers. Framing: three panels from sill to wall-plate,
short straight braces in some upper corners, collar and tie-beam truss;
west end truss has two collars between which is a single central strut
and also raking struts in lower corners; east end truss has three struts
to collar and concave V-strut in apex. There is also a gable at the
junction of the west and central bay with two struts beneath the collar.
South front elevation: 4-light C19 casement with cambered head on ground
floor to right; right of gable is a small original gabled dormer with con-
cave V-struts and a 2-light C19 casement; main entrance beneath gable has
a C20 gabled timber porch with glazed sides and C20 door. Attic lights in
gable ends. Plank weatherings at first floor, tie-beam and collar level at
west end. Interior: framing mainly intact including roof structure. Large
C20 addition to rear left.
