Chapel, now ruined. Probably C13. Flint with clunch dressings. A large
rectangular chapel orientated ENE by E standing beside a former ancient
roadway some 60m to W of moated manorial enclosure now occupied by
Marlin Chapel Farm. Each corner stands to about 5m and the rest only to
ground level. Chamfered stone plinth carried round diagonal corner
buttresses. Prominent open putlog holes. Fenced and overgrown.
VCH(1908)II 248 notes a late C13 charter of Sir Hugh de Broc augmenting
the endownment of his Chapel of Magdalene. (RCHM (1901)157 no.2:
Buckler dwg. 1828 in HRO).
