A black & white postcard image, courtesy of the Terry Trainor Collection, of Monmouth House, The Parade, Watford, taken from the northern end of the High Street in 1938. The young man in the foreground is possibly a prefect from nearby Watford Boys' Grammar School, when senior boys were allowed to wear suits rather than blazers. Monmouth House was converted into a shopping parade in 1928 at a time when considerable modifications were carried out in both north and south sections of the building, using materials from the recently-demolished Cassiobury House.
