House, since mid C19 a public house. Late C17, renovated in mid
C19. Timber frame roughcast with stucco plinth and steep old red
tile roof. S wing (Rose Cottage) c1830 for James Camp built as a
grocers shop, has a slated lower-pitched roof and weatherboarded
end. 2-storeys, 3-cell, central-chimney, lobby-entry plan house
facing W with chimney of conjoined square shafts a third from S,
and lean-to N end extension to service room. Later rear lateral
chimney to service room and staircase replacing original on E of
chimney stack. 3 front windows to each floor and door in line
with chimney. Flush 2-light casement windows, enlarged on ground
floor. Framed plank door under lean-to tiled hood. 2 windows
wide, 2 storeys S wing with door in middle and canted bay window
to right. Flush box sash windows with 6/6 panes. Interior of
older house has fireplaces to parlour at S, and hall in middle.
Floor over hall carried on axial chamfered beam with hollow stop
and notch. Unjowled posts (except corner posts) and clasped-
purlin roof. Timber framed weatherboarded outbuildings extend to
