House. C16, late C16 inserted floor and E end chimney, heightened to 2
storeys after fire in mid C20. Timber frame roughcast with red tilehung
1st floor and red pantiled roof. A long, originally single-storey house
now of 3 unequal bays, facing S possibly representing a hall (and
cross-passage defined by a truss) with axially divided service bay at W
end. Large external E gable chimney with former wide fireplace now
enclosed in later single-storey E extension. S front has 2 windows to
each floor and central door. Flush casement windows with small panes
(renewed), 4-light on tilehung 1st floor_and 2-light below. High quality
heavy chamfered framing with large flat joists exposed internally, with
tie-beams above skirtings of 1st floor. Heavy post at NE with chamfered
curved brace suggests the house extended further E, probably as a parlour
bay. An important late medieval building associated with the church.
