Dovecote, converted to granary, now a garden store. Circa 1700,
converted to granary in C19 with new upper door on E. Redbrick chequered
with blue brick, remains of plastered eaves cove, and steep pyramidial
roof now slated. A tall square dovecote with principal entrance with
brick label and ovolo moulded oval window over on N, both now blocked.
Ovolo moulded brick offset to plinth and rounded brick string below
plaster base to former eaves cove. Walls 13½" thick. Inserted floor for
granary and remains of bins on and S sides of upper part. Lower part
dug out as store with door on N side. Interior plastered and ceiling run
up inside of roof. Single tie-beam N-S and ties across each corner on
wallplate. Flat apex to ceiling may be carried on base for former cupola
or lantern with access for doves. (Pevsner (1977) 117).
