Range of shelter sheds and attached forge. 1850s of different builds, forge dated
1856, central section of shelter shed range dated 1854 and 1859. For Lord Enfield.
Red brick in Flemish bond, shelter sheds with arch-braced timber wallposts on
chamfered padstones and some weatherboarding; Welsh slate roofs, some replacement
corrugated iron and sheeting. Long range of 4, 5, 4, 6 bays of shelter shed, and
2nd section taller, originally floored, and the right bay weatherboarded and with
2nd floor; 2-bay forge at west end. Shelter sheds: open-fronted on both north and
south sides, with brick spine wall; weatherboarding at eaves, deeper at 2nd section
the right bay of which has board door with boarded-up door over (now window); brick
kneelers to raised verges with brick coping. Tub privy inside at west end. Forge
has 3-light small pane windows stepped. eaves, gable treatment as shelter sheds, end
stack on left, and stable door and datestone to left return. Inside forge is board
stall partition with ball-finialled iron column, forge below hood with bellows, and
wooden work benches along walls. Roofs have iron king posts; and wooden angle
braces, tiebeams and purlins.
