House. C16, floored and heated in C17. C19 additions and C20
alterations. Timber frame, exposed with red brick nogging. Tiled roof.
Extended in whitewashed brick. 3 bay end hall house. Gable end to road:
arched braces from jowled posts to cambered tie beams. Queen struts to
collar clasping purlins. C20 casements inserted between studs. Left
return: posts and studs on first floor. Right return: braces and studs.
Cross axial ridge stack between 2 front bays. Half hip to rear with
later stack. Lean-to addition to left, flat-roofed 1 storey addition to
front with entrance. Link to right to 1 storey outbuildings. Interior
not inspected. (Herts Archaeology, vol.6, 1978, p.78).
