Cornwall. Converted to 2 dwellings late C19: first floor inserted, windows
partially blocked and stacks rebuilt. Red brick in Flemish bond with ashlar
dressings. Slate roof, brick stacks. Classical style. Rectangular plan:
3-bay front, 4 bay returns. 2 storeys with basement. Stepped plinth of
squared limestone with ashlar above. Entrance to right: steps to pair of
recessed part-glazed late C19 doors in raised ashlar surround with plain
entablature, cornice and slightly projecting hood. Similar blind opening to
right. Tall recessed central panel with round-headed keyed arch containing
16-pane sash in flush wooden architrave set in round-headed recess with
rubbed brick arch. Rectangular plaque above with plain recessed panel.
Pedimented gable with boldly-moulded ashlar cornice. Pair of massive axial
stacks with decorative brick bands. Left return, facing The Green, has
8-pane sliding basement sashes, plain ashlar band interrupted by large
12-pane sashes under flat arches, and round-headed first floor unequal
sashes with glazing bars, all with stone cills and rubbed-brick arches.
Cornice and gutter on wrought-iron brackets. Rear has door to left in
panelled reveal with radial fanlight, cornice and hood, first floor band and
bricked-up Venetian window with recessed round-arched central panel.
