GV II

Pyramid monument, probably burial vault of Stovin family. C18 with later
partial rebuilding. Brick with ashlar casing. Low 4-sided pyramid,
approximately 3 metres square, on pedestal with cyma-moulded plinth and
cornice. Pyramid has 5 courses including capstone. North and east sides of
pedestal have fragmentary plinth and cornice largely replaced by plain
slabs, indicating later rebuilding. The Stovin family, Quakers who played a
prominent role in the history of the Isle of Axholme, occupied Tetley Hall
in the C17-C18. The family graveyard (qv) lies 2 metres to the west.
