Farmhouse. 1791 for George Taylor, with later alterations. Brown brick in
Flemish bond. Pantile roof. Double-depth plan with 2-room, central
entrance-hall south front, hall now open to ground floor left. 2 storeys, 3
bays; symmetrical. 6-fielded-panel door and plain overlight in architrave
beneath stucco flat arch, flanked by C19-C20 4-pane sashes in C18 flush
wooden architraves with sills beneath similar arches. Similar, but shorter,
first-floor sashes in similar surrounds. Stepped eaves, wooden eaves board.
Double-span roof with stone-coped gables and shaped kneelers. End stacks to
right (stack to front left removed). Right return, facing Graizelound
Fields Road, has C20 ground-floor casement to front range, C19 six-pane
ground-floor casement to rear range beneath segmental brick arch, with C20
first-floor casement above. Rainwater head on left return (formerly on
right return) inscribed: GT , with reliefs of a crown, lion and head of
1791
Britannia. Interior. Original open-well closed-string staircase with
corniced handrail, column-on-vase balusters with square knops, plain newel-
posts, and fielded panelling below; cyma-moulded spine beam to front left,
spine beam and exposed joists to kitchen, rear right. 3 low storeys to
rear, with roll-moulded ceiling beams.
