Mediaeval, refronted in late C17. Timber-framed. Colour-washed brick. Two
storeys. 3 doors of 6 panels and 1 of 4. Main door to inn has pilasters with
delicate sunk lines terminating in key pattern, shaped consoles and shelf cor-
nice. Over this is a figure of a horse carved in wood and supported on brackets.
Most of the fenestration is early C19, ground floor has 6 slightly segmental
windows with shutters, and a small early C19 shop front, and a broad entry to
yard. 1st floor was formerly jettied and has 4 sash windows (1 reglazed) and 4
casements. Under the eaves is a projecting band of brick. Machine tile roof.
Interior contains a remarkable quantity of late C19 public house fixtures and
fittings, almost entirely intact. In addition the posts and brackets of the
bressummer survive approximately two feet behind the late C17 frontage.
