Set back from the east side of North Street and reached through gates along a wide
drive to the west front. Erected 1843 in C12 gothic style.
West front. Coursed rubble with ashlar dressings. High gable to nave, divided
by corner buttresses with setoffs from the aisles with lean-to roofs. Glazed vesica
in apex of gable. Below are triple lancets with hoodmoulds set in echelon. Stringcourse.
A 2nd triplet of short lancets with hoodmoulds to ground floor. The aisle ends
have corner buttresses with pinnacles and oculi. Small gabled porches come forward
from the aisles, also with corner buttresses and pinnacles. Pointed archways with
wooden doors to entrances. The interior of the 4 bay aisled nave has openwork
wooden roofs above the clerestorey. Wooden glaalleries. To right of west front
is a 2-storey lean-to extension with single lancet to lst floor and pointed archway
below. Passageway leads through to Whirligig lane.
