Mid C17 origin, originally one single barn range associated with Nos 6 and
7. Altered in mid C19 to create cottage in one half for the Calthorpe Estate.
No 5, the cottage, is of one and half storeys painted brick but timber framed
originally. Retiled gable end roof. Two windows, lattic casements with brick
drop moulds; 2 gabled half dormers. Plain doorway. The surviving 2
bays of the barn at the north end also with back walls, mid C19 tiles to roof.
Cross gable containing cart doors with loft hatch above. The roof trusses
are substantial and pegged with raking struts from tie beam to principal and
notched back purlins. Included for group interest.
