Farmhouse; early C19, enlarged late C19. Flemish bond brickwork,
traces of yellowish paint; random-rubble retaining wall to garden
below on left; slate roof. Two-bay, 3-room deep, 2 storeys,
attics to rear. Front to drive: 2 windows to ground floor, 2-
light mullion and transom windows, marginal lights to each half,
glazing bars angled inwards to form irregular pentagon to top each
half. Flat, rubbed brick arch over. Louvred shutters date from
mid-late C20, but same pattern as original; original catches
remain on wall. First floor, as ground floor, but windows shorter
and did not originally have shutters. Parapet eaves, stone
coping: end pineapples mid C20. Parapet gables, brick chimneys on
ridge at ends. Right return: on left fireplace projection rises
through both floors, terminating against gable at eaves level:
flues continue within building, as originally designed. To right
half-glazed front door, up a stone step: glazing as windows to
front, flush panel below. Fanlight, door surround and pediment
mid-late C20, replacing reportedly late C19 porch. Two single-
light windows to right, otherwise as front, similar over front
door. Two single windows to right, first floor. Single-storey
range to right forms 'L' around back courtyard, part stone, part
brick, part timber-framed, former coach house under end.
Interior: 6-panel doors in entrance hall: stairs spiral round
open well. House originally 2 room deep front, with single storey
rear wing; latter raised one storey and attics in late C19, with
roof at right-angles to front.
