Four chest tombs: late C17, possibly early C18. Stone. North-
west monument, Thomas Pury, died 1688: flat lid, moulded edge,
plain sides, inset slate plaque on west with lettering; south end
raised oval in sunk rectangle, north Pury coat of arms on inset
stone. To east, inscription weathered off; flat lid, moulded
edge, no details left on sides or south end, Pury coat of arms on
north, south-west monument, flat lid, moulded edge, sunk
rectangle on west face, framed scrolls at ends, with plain margin
outside from returns of end panels. Sunk rectangle to north, Pury
coat of arms to south. Fourth monument set against third, to
east: flat lid, moulded edge, ends as third, east side latin
Inscription, to Thomas Pury, no date legible. One monument
probably to Thomas Pury who built church (q.v.): family lived at
The Grove in same parish (q.v.).
