Two adjoining barns. Mid C17. Coursed rubble stone on moulded
plinth, with quoins. Slate roof to west side on both barns, lower
barn has corrugated asbestos roof to east, higher barn has stone
slate roof on east side. Lower level barn to north has coped
verge with roll moulding and finial on north end and same moulded
coping along ridge. Three stone Tudor-archways with chamfered
quoins and lintels and possibly original inner door frame to
furthest north. Two-light stone mullion to far left, 3-light
approximately central and single-light towards right-hand end.
Additional windows and door with timber lintel and double doors to
right of centre with chamfered stone frame. Adjoining barn has
same plinth running unbroken to end, and two rows of square vents
on front with flush cart entry left of centre with projecting
additional lean-to roof.
Interiors not accessible. These barns appear in Kip's engraving of
Kempsford Manor of 1700 and were probably contemporary with the
house built by the Thynne family c1630s.
