Mooracre House

II


Identified on ST 79 NE as The Moors. Detached dwelling. c1840. Squared and coursed
stone, double roman tile roof to box eaves, main block, Welsh slate and parapet,
subsidiary block. A shallow and lofty block with stone gable stacks, with lower wing,
right, and late C20 garage with matching parapet wall, left. Three storeys and
basement, 2-windowed, sashes with glazing bars first and second floors, later C19
canted bays ground floor; central bay two blank panels with permanent shutters to
former windows. At back, tall arched sash, with glazing bars, to stair. Central
4-panel door, part glazed, in Tuscan porch with heavy entablature, in stone.

Interior: stone staircase, swept mahogany rail to cast iron balustrade; many good
4-panel doors in architraves.
