Dwelling, formerly farmhouse. C17, C19 service wing extension. Rubble limestone,
formerly limewashed, stone slate roof to main roof and gables to north front,
elsewhere, concrete tile. A large L-plan layout with principal rooms at west end of
north block, and dairy, stables etc in deep return wing on east side. Four-gabled
north front with triple square stack to right of entrance and triple diagonal stack on
end gable, left, these ashlar with moulded cappings: two storeys and attic, windows
mainly 2-light casement with stopped drips, but 3-light in right hand gable and one
cross mullioned ground floor, left. Plain modern plank door in chamfered surround
central, and small fixed square light to right, former stair position. South front
two gables, one + 4 windowed; in left gable 4-light with drip under cross-mullioned
casement, then 4 sashes without bars under segmental heads to ground floor and 4
cross-mullioned wood casements, two under segmental heads, first floor. Returning,
two storeys and attic, various casements, many in segmental heads. Interior: many
deep plain chamfered beams, original roof structure, stair with octagonal newel, north
front, first floor to attic, C18 wide stair with uncut string opposite side of entry.
One ground floor room with C17 painted panelling; bolection mould fire surround in
ground floor centre room. Mullions to multi-light windows in principal room, ground
floor west end, cyma mould and fillet.
