House. Early C18, early C19: altered mid and late C20. Rendered
brick front, lined as ashlar, English bond brickwork right return,
Flemish bond rear; heading bond to front of wings, asbestos slate
roof. Three-room, 3-storey centre, single-bay, 2-storey wings each
side, both 2 rooms deep: right wing further room projecting at
rear. Entrance front symmetrical, large semi-circular bows each
side of centre. Entrance door up 3 stone steps with nosings, door
half-glazed with 2 flush panels below, semi-circular fanlight over.
Unfluted Ionic half columns either side, similar pilasters beyond,
carrying a cornice. Rusticated plinth to bows, 3 equally-spaced
sash windows in each. First floor 3 sash windows each bow, sills
extended as plain string course. Sash window with moulded
architrave and pediment over door, in recess. Second floor 3
shorter sash windows in each bow, sash window in centre, segmental
head to recess. Dentil cornice, plain parapet above with recess
over each window, plain stone coping. Hipped roof with 2
longitudinal valleys, external chimneys on returns. Wing set back
on left, 2-light, late C20 window, cambered rubbed brick arch,
first floor; pilaster left corner, plain parapet. Set back on
right further wing, 2-light mid C20 window, cambered brick arch
ground floor, pilaster right corner: 9-pane sash first floor,
upper sash smaller, cambered head and rubbed brick arch, rafter
eaves.
Interior: 6-panel doors ground and first floors, fielded to
corridor, planted moulding to rooms; panelled shutters front
ground and first floors. Dogleg stairs, moulded string, turned
newels and balusters, ramped, moulded handrail. Large rear room,
ground floor, moulded plaster ceiling, Rococo style, modillion
cornice, dado rail, panelled shutters. Moulded cornice front
ground floor rooms. Two-panel doors with 'L' hinges, top floor.
Collar and tie beam trusses, one pair purlins, square ridge. Bow
windows and rear verandah added C19, latter removed probably mid
C20.
