Large house. C17, partly demolished and greatly enlarged late C18-
early C19. C17 range partly ashlar; ashlar facade to the later
range; otherwise coursed squared and dressed limestone; stone
slate roof; rendered stacks. Rectangular plan to the-C18-C19
range under which the cellar of the early range runs at right
angles. The formerly 'L'-shaped C17 range butts up against the
rear of the later range. C17 range: 2 storeys and attic, service
range/store single storey, later range: 3 storeys. Elevation
facing the road: plinth of C17 range and two single-light cellar
windows now incorporated at the base of the side wall of the later
range; 3-light segmental-headed window with keystone to the ground
floor of the early range, interrupting a continuous dripmould; 3-
light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casement above. Gable-end
of C17 range: three-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned
casement with continuous dripmould above to the ground floor;
similar window but with a stopped hood above; similar 2-light
window to the attic. Service wing/store at right angles with a
single-width plank door and a double door flanking a 3-light
double-chamfered stone-mullioned casement. Symmetrical, 3-windowed
east front to the later range; two 12-pane sashes to the ground
floor; three 12-pane sashes to the first floor; three 9-pane
sashes to the upper floor. Central door with flush panels and
fanlight within a round-headed surround with an open triangular
pediment and pilasters; parapet with moulded cornice.
Interior of C17 range retains an inglenook fireplace with
bressumer. Later range retains the original staircase with stick
balusters and moulded brackets to the risers; original doors and
shutters. Partial interior inspection only.
