C17, late C18 and early C19. 2 joined but different structures; the south unit
of 2 storeys, 4 windows. Old tile roof. Painted brick walling, with parapet
having stone coping and band, rubbed flat arches. Victoria sashes. Ground-floor
has casements within a framework of cornice and frieze above 4 pilasters (former-
central doors now a window). The northern unit (No 23) is a taller 2 storeys,
3 windows, slate roof. Stucco walling with coping store to parapet, 1st floor
band rubbed flat arches. Sashes in reveals to upper windows. The south side
of the ground floor has a doorcase (the entrance to the Hop Leaf PH) with a
cornice on brackets, plain pilasters and architraves above steps; next is a plain
arched opening to a through passageway. The north side has a late C19 shop front.
The centre of each parapet is a small gilded eagle survives from the time when
the building was the Eagle Tavern, (removed at time of the survey).
