SU 73 NW CHAWTON FORMER A32

2/25 Home Farmhouse

G.V. II

House. C18, and mid C19. Brick walling to the middle part is Flemish bond,
with cambered arches to the openings, 1st floor band and plinth; the north
extension of English bond, and the (former) brewhouse of coarse flint with
brick quoins and bands. Plain tiled roof, with 2 gabled dormers. Originally
a small house of 2 storeys and attic, with a symmetrical front of 3 windows,
but extended at each end by 1 window (the taller north side projecting slightly),
and with further extensions (C19), of a 2-storeyed cross-wing at the south side,
and a long narrow brewhouse at the north side. Casements, plain doorway. A
ventilator above the brewhouse has a pyramid tile roof.
