House. C18, early and mid C19. The wall is stuccoed, with a parapet (coping
and band), 1st floor band, and a high plinth. Plain tiled roof (double-pile)
to the old part, slate to the rear. A house of 3 phases, the earliest showing
inside, and the exterior having early and later Tudor/Gothic features, and
vernacular rear extensions. East front: 2 storeys; 3 windows. The central
window (above the entrance) is an early Gothic oriel, with castellated parapet
and pointed lights; at each side is a 2-storeyed splayed bay of later mid C19)
Gothic style, of similar but bolder treatment. The C18 doorway, above 2 stone
steps, has an oval arch with lead radiating fanlight, panelled reveals, and a
(C20) ½-glazed door; this is within an early C19 open porch of exaggerated
slenderness in Doric dentil order, with an open pediment and reeded columns.
Interior: C18 staircase and panelled doors in architraves, with Regency doors
to one room and bookshelves within oval-arched recesses in another.
