Public house. C16, C18, early and late C19. Rendered and brick walls, with a
slate and tiled roof. A group of buildings, U-shaped, the roadside elevation
(east) comprising an early C19 symmetrical front of 2 storeys and 3 windows, with
a taller gabled Victorian addition at the south side, of 2 storeys 2 windows.
Hipped slate roof over the older part, rendered walls with architraves to the
west side, sashes in reveals, with a late C19 canopy above porch and bays. A
link unit, of painted brick with a slate roof, connects to a much older building
at the rear, with a west elevation of 2 storeys 4 windows; hipped tile roof and
shafted stack, walls of exposed framing, the lower filled with ironstone, the
later upper level with plaster, Victorian sashes above casements, and a ½-glazed
door beneath a moulded canopy on carved brackets.
