Indicator stone. Probably 1830 for Stockton and Darlington railway. Ashlared
grit sandstone. Square block about 1/2 metre high with low pointed top. Set
diagonally to south side of rail bed. M inscribed on north-east face and C on
north-west, probably for Middlesbrough and Copley, the termini of the Hagger
Leases branch (1830) and the Middlesbrough branch (1830).
