House, early C17 or earlier, altered in C18. Timber framed, plastered, roofed
mainly with handmade red clay tiles, some machine-made tiles. 4 bays aligned
approx. E-W, aspect S, with axial chimney stack in second bay from W end,
forming a lobby entrance. External chimney stack at E end. 2-storey extension
to S of E end, C18. 2 storeys and attics. 6-panel door with pedimented
doorcase, fluted jambs and triglyph frieze, 2 2-storey splayed bays of double-
hung sash windows of 8-12-8 lights, and one double-hung sash window of 12 lights
over door, all C18. Parapet. 2 gabled dormers, blocked. Main chimney stack
has 2 recessed panels in base, ovolo-moulded cornice, 4 octagonal shafts with
moulded bases, rebuilt at the top. The S wing has a door and double bay shop
windows, one C20 casement window above, a dentilled cornice, and hipped roof
with blocked gabled dormer. The S wing has re-used roll-moulded joists above
the ground floor, C16. RCHM 15.
