Wrongly shown on OS map as no. 2; a separate building (unlisted) to NE is
wrongly shown as no. 4. Part of house, converted to 2 cottages. Early C17,
incorporating earlier stack, converted in C19. Timber framed, plastered, roofed
with handmade red plain tiles. 4 bays facing NW, with late C16 stack at right
end (shared with no. 24, Stoneham Street, item 9/197, q.v.), and C19 axial stack
near left end. No. 2 constitutes the 2 right bays, and partly oversails no. 24,
Stoneham Street. No. 4 constitutes the remainder, and has 2 small lean-to
extensions at the left end, roofed respectively with slate and sheet metal. 2
storeys. No. 2 has one C19 horizontal sash of 12 lights with crown seconds
glass on each floor, and one C19 casement on the first floor; flush 4-panel door
with 2 small inserted lights. No. 4 has on the ground floor 2 C19 horizontal
sashes of 8 lights, and on the first floor one C19 casement; door in left
return. In the left return on the first floor is one C19 horizontal sash of 12
lights. Jowled posts. Face-halved and bladed scarfs in both wallplates. In no.

truss at the left end has been blocked with inserted studding and primary

Large wood-burning hearth of C16 bricks facing to left. Blocked windows,
apparently of early glazed type. Part of RCHM 38.
