Forge, now a house. C14. Timber framed, plastered, roof with handmade red
plain tiles. 3-bay crosswing, gabled to street, formerly associated with hall
on site to left (now no. 4, Spoutwell House, item 9/99, q.v.). 2 storeys.
Formerly jettied to street, now underbuilt. C16 rear stack. Ground floor, one
C18 sash with glazing bars. First floor, one C20 leaded casement. Door has
moulded architrave and small pedimented hood. Much of the original frame is
exposed internally, with one mutilated double-ogee doorhead. Remains of C14
forge furnace stack in centre. (Wherein I Dwell, Earls Colne WEA, 1983, 35).
