TL 51 SW MATCHING HIGH LANE

Small house, c.1600, altered in C17, extended in C20. Timber framed, plastered
with zigzag combed pattern in panels, roofed with C20 corrugated red tiles.
4 bays aligned approx. E-W, aspect N. Axial chimney stack in second bay from
W end, with catslide roof and similar tiles. C20 porch at W end. External
chimney stack at E end, enclosed by single storey extension, c.1970, roof mainly
flat with some courses of concrete pantiles round edge. Single storey with
attics. Plain boarded door and 3 C20 casement windows, one swept dormer with
C20 casement window. Roof half-hipped at both ends. Some framing exposed
internally. Jowled wallposts, cambered central tiebeam with arch braces.
Middle bays originally open to roof, chimney and floor inserted in early C17,
axial beam chamfered with lamb's tongue stops. Floor in E bay rebuilt C20.
