House. Probably C18. Roughcast stone with slate roof. 2 storeys, 2 bays, the
1st bay breaks forward under catslide roof. Lean-to outshut to left return.
1st bay has stair window with leaded glazing; re-entrant angle has upper part
filled in. 2nd bay has casement window with slated lintel and 1st floor window
with small-paned fixed glazing with opening light. Gabled porch has return
entrance and front small-paned light with stained glass fragments. Outshut has
small-paned casement. Gable-end stacks. Left return has entrance. Rear has
casement windows; ground-floor has 2 windows to 2nd bay. Arthur Ransome, the
author, lived here 1925-35 and wrote 'Swallows and Amazons".
