House. Late C17, with C19 and C20 alterations and additions.
Coursed coal measures sandstone rendered in parts, with coped
gables and moulded kneelers, ashlar gable and ridge stacks, and
a plain tiled roof. Irregular plan, comprising a six bay late
C17 range with a wide advanced gable at the east end and an
added two bay C19 range at the east end. Six bay range, south
elevation, two and three storeys with attics, the two western
bays roughcast. Central glazed doorway with 2 and 3-light
windows above, all C19 insertions. Two 3-light flat roofed
attic dormers. Advanced added flat roofed bay to east, with
tall 3-light mullioned windows in flush stone surrounds. Two
bay gable with parapet to projecting bay to south-east corner.
Ground and first floor 2-light mullioned windows, together with
single light windows to eastern bay, all beneath band courses
which link the window heads to the ground and first floors.
Additionally the cills are linked by bands which terminate at
the outer openings, whereas the head bands return around the
south-east corner to link with the heads of single light C17
openings to the east elevation. At the head of the parapeted
bay, a gabled dormer faces east, giving access to the parapet
which has a moulded coping. Two bay mid C19 addition, two
storeys with stacked tall 4-light timber mullioned windows with
horizontal glazing bars. Wide doorway to east with Tudor arched
headed door. Single bay C20 lean-to addition at east end.
