GV II

Terrace of 6 cottages, now three. Early C19, restored c1980. Red brick with slate
roofs, dentilled eaves and brick gable and ridge stacks. Two storeys, each cottage
2 bays. South elevation of each cottage has 2 central plank doors flanked by 2-
light windows, with 2 similar windows above. All openings have cambered brick heads.
Fenestration, C20 top-hung casements. Eastern door of central cottage with barge-
boarded porch roof. Part of a group of industrial workers housing, built by the
Butterley Company, facing on to the Cromford Canal. Source: Philip Rider 'The
