Little London
10.11.67 Farmhouse
II
Threshing barn, now a farmhouse. Early C17 with C19 addition
and C19 and C20 alterations. Square panel timber framing with
corner braces and queen post trusses, set on stone plinth and
infilled with brick nogging, also with C19 brick extension to
east. Steeply pitched C20 concrete tile roof on original trusses
with three brick ridge stacks. Eight bay timber frame building
with single bay addition to east. Timber framed part has four
bays to west, then a wide bay without framing and another three
timber framed bays beyond, suggesting this was formerly a
threshing barn or two cottages. North elevation has a
horizontal sliding sash to each of the two westernmost bays and
both sashes are set to the west side of the panels. To the east
is a small C20 window and beyond in the wider bay, which has
been filled with later brick, is a segment headed 2-light
glazing bar casement. Beyond again to east, there are two small
C19 windows in the timber framed part and a blank wall to the
C19 extension. Above there are three horizontal sliding sashes,
each is set to the side of the panel it is in. South elevation
has similar odd arrangement of horizontal sliding sashes and
casement windows. The doorcase is to the east of the southern
elevation and has a plain C19 door. The C19 extension has
3-light casement windows. Interior is very simple with winder
staircase and plank doors.
