Terrace of houses, now houses and shop (No.134). c1806-35.
Stucco over brick with concealed roofs and iron frieze.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, 35 first-floor windows (mainly 3 per
house except No.130 has 1 and Nos 132 and 142 have 2). Stucco
detailing includes Doric pilasters between houses and to ends
(Nos 130 and 132 treated as 1 unit for design purposes);
first-floor bands, continuous crowning frieze, cornice
(missing to No.138) and parapet with copings. 6/6 sashes where
original, mainly blind central first-floor windows to each
house (blind right window to Nos 132 and 134). Nos 118 and 122
have tripartite ground-floor windows, 6/6 between 2/2 sashes;
all windows in plain reveals and with sills. Entrances: 4 to
left, otherwise to right, except No.142 has entrance to right
return: 4-panel doors where original mainly with overlights,
that to No.122 has fanlight with batwing and circle glazing
bars. Angled right return has 2 first-floor windows, 2/2
sashes and blind opening; 3-panel door with overlight; No.142
has tent hood with ornate frieze.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Fairview Road was developed from c1806; it
occupies part of the open fields 'inclosed' by Act of
Parliament in 1806 to enable their development as building
land.
