House and attached railings. c1820-34, shown on Merrett's 1834
Map but not on the Post Office Map of 1820. Stucco over brick
with slate roof, brick and stucco right end stack and iron
railings. Double-depth plan with service range to rear.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys on basement, 3 first-floor windows. Stucco
detailings includes 4 incised full-height Doric pilasters to
ends and between windows linked by segmental arcade, frieze
and cornice with blocking course and copings; sills. 1/1
sashes in plain reveals throughout. Central fluted distyle
Doric portico with engaged pilasters, architrave, frieze and
dentil cornice with blocking course; within a part-glazed,
6-panel door with lozenge frieze and fanlight. Left return has
similar 3-pilaster arcade concealed to ground floor by later
build but with two 8-pane French windows with margin-lights
and overlights. Rear has small, round-arched staircase sash
with margin-lights and coloured glass.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: area railings have X- and scrolled
quatrefoil motif.
Occupies a good corner site and forms a group with Nos 68-92
(even) Hewlett Road (qv), a well preserved terrace on the main
route from Cheltenham to the Cotswolds.
