Small house. Circa late C17 or early C18. Rendered cob and rubble walls. Hipped
thatch roof. Brick axial stack.
Plan: 2 principal rooms both heated by central axial stack with entry into right-
hand room. At the opposite end of this room to the stack is a very small service
room at the front with winder stairs at rear - both probably original features.
Beyond the left-hand heated room is a small room created in the late C20 although a
slightly larger room had formerly existed there; it is unclear whether it was an
original feature or the heated room extended right to the end of the house.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 3 window front of later C19 or early C20 small-
paned 2-light casements to left on each floor, early C19 horizontal sliding 12-pane
sashes at centre and narrow single light C20 casements to right. C20 part-glazed
door to right of centre.
Interior: rough wany ceiling beams. Fireplace in large right-hand room has late
C17 bolection moulded chimneypiece which comes from Halsdon House (q.v). Early C18
2-panel door. Roof timbers are rough straight principals.
This small house survives in an unaltered state preserving an attractive traditional
exterior and with no later additions.
