Post Office and attached Cottage (Church View, School Lane)

Post Office (with dwelling) and attached cottage (School Lane),
probably circa 1870, for the 3rd Marquis and 1st Duke of Westminster,
possibly by John Douglas; simplified Jacobean. Brown brick, with blue
diapering to upper storey. Red tile gabled roof with a simply shaped
central chimney on the ridge and one plain corner chimney. The
windows have small-pane iron casements in doubly bevelled stone
surrounds with bevelled mullions. The post office window (of 8
lights) is also transomed. Two half-dormers with raking roofs. One
and a half storeys; the upper projects slightly, carried on a
dentilled brick string.
Interiors not inspected.
