Farmhouse, early C17 with early C19 alterations. Roughcast on
brickwork and timber framing, old tile roof. 2 storeys and attic, 4
bays, cross wings plan. The end bays are gabled and project. Half
glazed front door with leaded glazing and bead and flush below. The
door is fronted by a half glazed porch with pitched roof, shaped barge
boards, and timbers in the apex. Flush casements with glazing bars,
cambered arches and 2-course terracotta weathered sills. Brick dentil
course at eaves, gables with exposed purlin ends and barge boards. At
the rear (north) gable-end with close studding and middle rail,
jettied at first floor and gable and with carved consoles. Blocked
window ground floor, remains of projecting mullioned window first
floor. Chimneys to main ridge and the brick sides of the cross wings.
Interior: Ovolo-moulded beams in two rooms, large exposed ceiling
joists. Single flight staircase with turned balusters. At first
floor level there are deep bevelled beams, with bar-stops, in two
rooms, also exposed ceiling joists. In the attic there are large
square purlins, ridge-tree, exposed oak rafters, and a wide-boarded
door on strap hinges.
