Penny Loaves.

Formerly the Pole farmhouse, then a bakery and alehouse, now a house:
early C17 with C20 alterations and additions. Rendered stone rubble,
Kerridge stone-slate roof, stone ridge and 1 plastered chimney.
Originally U-shaped in plan or of 2 parallel ranges later joined.
2-storey, 3-bay, twin gabled front. Gables have C20 casements on both
storeys and show heavy roof timbers. Small central gabled porch has
semi-circular headed entrance.
Interior: Timber framed partition walls. Parlour has deeply
chamfered ceiling beam with flat and tongue stop, bead moulded wooden
lintel to window and a fire beam. Simpler ceiling beams in other
rooms.
