GV II

Farmhouse. Possibly C17 extended with circa mid C18 outshut to rear. Rendered stone
rubble and cob with steeply pitched slate roof with hipped ends, continued down with
cement-washed scantle slate roof over outshut to rear. 2 rear lateral chimney stacks
incorporated into rear outshut with right-hand room heated by large stone rubble
stack and left-hand room with brick shaft to stack.
Probably 2 room and through passage plan with hall kitchen on right and parlour on
left. Further extended to rear in circa mid C18 with 2-storey outshut containing
service rooms forming a double depth plan. Lean-to extension on left-hand hipped end
and possible evidence of a cloam oven projection in the front wall of the single-
storey remodelled extension on the right-hand hipped end.
2 storeys asymmetrical 3-window front with left-hand side set slightly forward
Ground floor with C20 window to left, probably in C19 window opening, with louvered
cill and late C19 3-light casement to right. C20 door in centre with open porch with
hipped slate roof. First floor with openings not quite above those on ground floor;
2 early-mid C19 2-light casements flank later central C19 2-light casement. Rear
elevation with 2 C19 casements on first floor.
Interior not accessible at time of survey although owner has just discovered a large
fireplace in the right-hand room and believes that the roof timbers survive.
