5/8 Place Barton Farmhouse and cottage
(known as Barton Bothy)

Farmhouse and adjoining cottage. Probably early C19. Slatestone rubble, rendered
front with scantle slate roof sweeping lower to rear, half-hipped to left and brick
chimney over external breast to gable end right, also brick axial stack. 2 room
double depth central stair plan to farmhouse and 1 room double depth plan to cottage.
2 storeys. 3 window, symmetrical front to farmhouse, 1 window front to cottage,
right. Farmhouse has central doorway with panelled door and overlight in closed
hipped roofed porch. Cottage door to left. 12-pane sashes to ground floor and
16-pane sashes to first floor all in original openings with shallow arches. Cottage
openings at lower level. Small paned sashes to rear and large brick chimney to rear
wall of farmhouse.
