Cottages, formerly Ship Inn. Centre one circa 1700, other C18. First cottage is
stone rubble and cob, middle one cob with stone footings and third one is stone,
all under hipped wheat reed thatched roof. 2 roomed plan to centre one with one
room additions, all double depth. 2 storeys, 4 window range. Ground floor is
window, door, window, door, window, window, door. Thatched porch on posts to each
cottage. All windows 2 light casements with glazing bars. Ground floor and first
floor right windows of middle cottage have outer frames and mullions which
originally held leaded glazing (shallow rebates). Similar window to stair bay to
rear. Interior of middle cottage has many 2 panel doors with HL hinges, open
hearth to right, bowtell moulded ceiling joists, dog leg stair with flat balusters
hsaped to resemble spiral turning and canopied ceilings on 3 sides of first floor
rooms proving that centre. cottage was hipped and stood by itself. Interiors of
other two have suffered more alteration but retain some original joists.
