Description

SW 73 NE PERRANARWORTHAL PERRANARWORTHAL

3/345 Bridge at SW 778 386 NE

GV II

Road bridge over entrance to dock or unloading bay. Circa 1828. Shale rubble with dressed granite voussoirs, string and parapet coping.
Single span of segmental almost semi-circular arch. Slightly humped road surface and parapets. Hogsback copings.
The Turnpike road from Truro to Falmouth is 1828 so this must be the date of the
bridge. Constructed to permit limestone to be taken from small boats and barges to the nearby Lime Kilns, qv.
Information from map by M.W. Jarvis, MBE, AMICE, 1974 as shown in THE NORWAY HOTEL, PERRANWHARF.
