Houses and shops, C17 or earlier, timber framed and plastered with peg tile
roofs, gabled at N hipped on S corner and with a lower ridge line block at S
end of rear. 2 hipped dormers in front roof slope with casements and big ridge
line stack over No. 11 and end gable stack to N. Front has, on the first floor,
4 double hung sash windows with moulded surrounds and small panes. On the
ground floor, an early C19 doorcase, with Doric pilasters, flat hood and diamond
decoration in frieze, a projecting C20 shopfront with flat top, then 2 early C19
doorcases interspersed by similar double hung sash windows. No. 1 has a single
storey timber frame with jowledposts and halved and bladed scarf joints of
probable C17, later raised to 2 storeys and the back of this block is in red
brick. No. 11 has a 'tunnel' through the substantial stack on the ground floor,
probable C17.
