Farmhouse. Circa early C19 extended in circa mid to late C19. Stone rubble. Slate
roof with 2 hipped ends to front of earlier range and gable ends to front and rear of
later range on left. Brick axial and side lateral stacks.
Plan: Double depth range to earlier range on right with central entrance flanked by
two principal rooms heated by axial stacks. Large kitchen to rear right. The stair,
which is to rear left, may be a result of the remodelling when the left hand range
was added in circa mid to late C19. This left hand range is on 2-room double depth
plan with a second entrance leading into a passage on the right and a principal room
to front left, heated by a side lateral stack, with a further room beyond to rear.
Exterior: Two storeys. 2-3 window front. The symmetrical 3-window front to the
earlier right hand range has a central timber and rendered porch with flat roof and
C19 panelled door within. Two C19 12-pane sashes on ground floor and three above
with dressed slate segmental arches. To left, the higher gabled end to the circa mid
to late C19 extension; two storeys and attic with brick segmentai arches to the
openings. Part glazed plank door to right and C19 six over nine-pane sash. Two C19
12-pane sashes on first floor and 1-light window to attic.
Interior: Largely complete with mid and late C19 joinery and carpentry details.
Wilkey Down, previously knowm as Old Polapit Tamar, was a seat of the Coode family
prior to the erection of Polapit Tamar (qv) in 1866.
