NY 24 NE WOODSIDE Moorthwaite

Farmhouse and barn. Dated over entrance and inscribed W & A.A. 1691 with
extension dated and inscribed over entrance J. & M.A. 1731; late C18 barn.
Whitewashed sandstone rubble with flush quoins. Extensions and barn of brick.
Graduated greenslate roof with coped gables and kneelers; brick chimney stacks.
2 storeys, 2 bays with higher 2-storey, 3-bay extension to left and
single-storey 2-bay barn to left at right-angles, partly converted as part of
the house. C20 door in chamfered surround with inscribed and dated lintel.
Replacement sash windows with glazing bars in painted stone surrounds.
Extension has C20 door in stone architrave with dated and inscribed lintel.
Sash windows with glazing bars in painted stone architraves. Blocked fire
window to left of entrance. Barn has sash windows with glazing bars in C20
painted stone surrounds, flanked by decorative open brick vents on 2 levels.
End wall left has large projecting C20 bay window. Part still in use as a
barn/garage has large cart entrance to rear. Interior of 1731 extension has
inglenook with heck partition and firebeam. Spice cupboard recess to right of
original stone fireplace. Beamed ceiling.
