Farmhouse. Circa C18, with alterations and additions of mid - late C19 and some C20
alterations. Slate stone rubble; rendered front. Slate roof with lead rolls to
ridge and gable ends. Gable end stack to right with brick shaft. The front wing to
left has stack with rendered shaft and brick top at the gable end.
Plan: 2-room plan, with a one-room plan wing to front left heated from a gable end
stack at the front. There is a 2-storey porch set in the angle between the main
range and the front wing. At the left side there is a later C19 addition containing
a kitchen and a dairy, with apple store at the rear.
Exterior: 2 storeys, an asymmetrical one-window front. At ground and first floor to
right there is a C19 20-pane sash. The 2-storey porch has a recessed doorway with
C19 4-panelled door and C20 single window to left. The front wing is to left, 2-
storey; the gable end stack is external. At ground floor to right there is a C20 2-
light 3-pane casement and at first floor to right a C20 2-light 9-pane casement. At
the left side there is a single storey kitchen addition with scantle slate roof; C20
casement, 4-pane window and plank stable-type door at the left side. To left, the
roof forms a catslide over the dairy and apple room, with two C20 2-light 6-pane
casements. To end left there is a shallow gabled wing with C20 12-pane casement at
ground floor and late C19 6-pane sash at first floor. The right end is blind, with
deep bracketed eaves. At the rear, there is a C19 16-pane sash lighting the stair,
and at ground floor to right a 2-light 2-pane casement.
Interior: In the main range there is a central entrance hall with stair to rear;
tight open-well stair with stick balusters, The room to right has C19 chimney-piece.
The room to left has C20 fireplace and boarded ceiling; the window with plank
shutters. The dairy and apple room are at the left side, the apple room served by a
chute window at the rear. At first floor, the room to rear left has a blocked window
with window seat, not visible from the exterior, and a C18 2-panelled door.
