ST MICHAEL CAERHAYS
Bridge about 10 metres east of Lower Lodge
GV
II
Bridge over the River Luney. Dated 1910. Slatestone rubble with granite dressings.
Gothic style. The bridge is a single span, with a round arch to each side; on the
downstream side the arch has granite dressings with a datestone for 1910. On the
upstream side the parapet wall is in rubble with slate capping. On the downstream
side the parapet wall is embattled with an octagonal plan terminal pier in stone
rubble to east; the wall is about 1½ metres high and about 15 metres long.
The bridge appears to have been constructed to match the style of the Lower Lodge to
Caerhays Castle (q.v.).
