Pair of cottages. Cob, stone plinth, plastered under gabled-end slate roof. Early
C19 remodelling of an earlier house, formerly a 3-room, through-passage planned
house. 2 storeys.
Front: No.4 (to right) symmetrical 3-window range, all windows pointed Gothick, 2-
light with Y tracery, latticed leading, that above the door with a roundel in the
head. Door, deeply recessed, pointed with muntins and studding. No.2, with
slightly higher roof ridge, formerly a stable below; 2 first floor pointed windows
(as No.4 but lacking the latticed-leading); one C20 2-light window to left of
central planked door; base of formerly pointed window to right (now square-headed),
and right-hand door, C20. Left-hand end abuts adjacent property; right-hand end
with one pointed window to each floor (as front).
Rear: external lateral stack now contained within C19 and later lean-to; one C19 3-
light window, and C20 gabled dormer.
Interior: no contemporary features survive in no.2. Concealed beams, and exposed
fireplace with stone jambs and timber lintel probably pre - C19. Early C19 plaster
cornices and alcoves; also coloured glass margin panes, and one reused C17 fragment
in central window roundel.
